    Welcome to Readers Are Raised

If you’ve ever wondered how to raise kids who actually enjoy reading—not just kids who can sound out words, but kids who love books—you’re in the right place.

I’m a mom who cares deeply about reading, and I created Readers Are Raised because I struggled to find the kind of reading resources I was actually looking for. Now, I want to share what I’ve learned with other parents who want to raise confident, curious readers.

Why I Started Readers Are Raised

When I became a parent, I assumed there would be clear, simple guidance on how to support my kids as readers.

    Instead, I found:

    • Overwhelming advice
    • Conflicting opinions
    • Programs that felt rigid or pressure-filled
    • Resources that focused heavily on what kids should be doing—without explaining how parents could support them at home

I wanted to do right by my kids. I wanted to nurture comprehension, confidence, and a genuine love of reading—but I didn’t want reading to feel stressful or forced.

    So I started learning.

I read. I listened. I observed my kids. I paid attention to what worked and what didn’t. Over time, I began to see that strong readers aren’t built through perfection or pressure—they’re built through connection.

What I Believe About Raising Readers

Readers Are Raised is built on a few core beliefs:

    • Strong readers aren’t born—they’re raised
    • Comprehension matters just as much as decoding
    • Reading growth happens long before a child reads independently

The biggest shift for me as a mom was realizing that small, consistent moments matter far more than doing everything “right.”

Reading on the couch. Talking about stories at in the car on the way to practice. Letting kids choose books that interest them. Rereading favorites again and again.

    Those moments add up.
